The patented air discharge system by Teddington
The air discharge system of an Air Curtain system is crucial for the effective shielding of the door or gate. Teddington engineers have developed the CONVERGO® pressure chamber nozzle system for this purpose, which is superior to a conventional lamella air discharge in all respects.
Our patented CONVERGO® pressure chamber nozzle system is based on the Venturi principle (air acceleration through cross-sectional constriction). The air flow is compressed in the pressure chamber and accelerated strongly by the nozzle and distributed evenly across the entire discharge width. In addition, airfoil-shaped profiles divide the air jet into a core jet and a support jet and converge it again. A groove on the outer nozzle profile deflects unwanted outside air. A “soft” edge on the inner nozzle profile causes a desired room air induction into the air curtain.
In contrast to conventional systems, the result is a strongly directed air jet that can be used to screen very high and wide doors with low energy requirements. In this way, a maximum shielding effect is achieved with a smaller volume of air and less thermal energy.
The discharge angle of the nozzle can be finely adjusted using a grid and is therefore more adjustable than with conventional louvre systems. This means that the air curtain adapts better to the local conditions.
Maximum efficiency
Thanks to the patented CONVERGO® pressure chamber nozzle system, Teddington air curtain systems offer maximum shielding performance and efficiency with less air mass and higher blow-out speeds compared to conventional air curtains. In addition, around 30% less heating power is required.
